He said that it would be harder to produce original content without Family Guy reruns.
They could rerun old Adult Swim shows, but people would get bored quickly. Producing new content would be more difficult with less money and there's no guarantee they'd get Family Guy ratings.
Adult Swim doesn't need to produce Family Guy, they just have the rights to air it which is a lot cheaper to get than producing an original show.
Family Guy has been a solid ratings hit for over a decade for the block along with the other Fox shows. Adult Swim knows this, which is why they air so often. They could always depend on these shows, with them gone, which shows can they depend on for solid high ratings?
Remember how devastated Adult Swim was when they
lost Futurama? This time, they'd lose every Fox show. With it and the other Fox shows gone, Adult Swim's future is uncertain.
I would like it to be 100% original programming but I don't see how that would work.
