To carry is another matter, and the reciprocity bill, as much as I am in favor of gun rights, seems unfair to states with different regulations for acquiring one. A lot of gun owners
like myself seem giddy over the bill, but I honestly think if we're going to say, "if you can recognize driver's licenses across the nation you should do the same with CCW/CCLs!"
Then, on that token, make them have the same requirements. I know that almost NO state in the union is going to agree, especially since some states don't require them at all, and some are "may issue" states or areas with "may issue" counties, where the state can deny your permit based on its own discretion, and some states are "shall issue," where the state, if you qualify and do all the paperwork and classes, they have to give it to you.
Right now, I'm in a shall issue state, and no live fire course is required, but, if you take a live fire course, your license is then recognized by Minnesota, whereas if you don't take the live fire course, it's only valid here.
