Stevenson kinda hates Steven Universe because she thinks there's not a female lead and not enough focus on the Gems. She thinks their relationships, backstory and lore are the show's best features. So if she does think to follow its lead on anything, it'll be the parts many on /co/ enjoy the most.

I doubt she'll be able to alter Adora herself and since Mattel will likely have a doll line in the works she probably didn't even get to design them all on her own. That said some of then will swap races and I don't care who so long as my waifu Frosta doesn't have an ugly ass sidecut.

I am 98% sure they're going to use the same basic design scheme from their other non-Barbie lines. She-Ra makes for a good fantasy line. Like a cross between Monster High and Ever After High.

Hyped that they're ending Trollhunters on a part 3. I mean that's technically 6 fucking seasons so they'll have enough time to play everything out satisfyingly. I ended up liking the first part even more than something like Voltron. The next Arcadia show could be neat. It seems very typical plotwise, but so is Trollhunters and I very much enjoy that.

I like She-Ra for it's dumb as fuck 80's girl power charm (as well as He-Man for its borderline homoerotic macho vibe) so I hope this one can do something not obnoxious with that I guess. Though considering who's in charge I doubt that.

Captain Underpants would work perfectly as a episodic cartoon so no bones there.

Do not give a fuck about Boss Baby and Trolls could possibly be cute, but I'm surprised how heavily they're leaning into the whole "IT'S SPARKLY AND HUGGY AND SUGARY" thing cause DW usually like to have an air of ironic detachment with that kinda stuff.

Harvey Street Kids sounds like a lamer KND, but I liked KND so whatever, I guess it gets a pass for now

Not great, but could be worse. Definitely within the DW ballpark.

I always liked that She-Ra being a girly show as it was had really angry and mean looking villains, and it only happened because He-Man was cancelled and they gave them to her. In the end it made her more interesting because the She-Ra comic stories before that just had her and Catra fighting over Bo or some other dumb shit.

I also like that She-Ra was initially with the bad guys since she was raised within the Horde and her story then becomes one of redemption and fighting the Horde which has control of Etheria..

Honestly that's why I liked it, much of the girl shows back in the day had either the standard female villains or cute effeminate male villains with pastel colors.

Hordak and the Horde were designed to be He-Man villains and to sell toys to boys, and had red, gray, blue and black as their main colors. They are also suppose to be invaders and they don't really fit in with the residents of Etheria and it made a good contrast to the Rebellion.

I also liked how incredibly feminine She-Ra was but she wasn't afraid to throw down with the Horde also how her and her friends tended to annoy the shit out of Hordak.

I also liked that She-Ra was part of both worlds. She was raised with the Horde and defected to the Rebellion so she knows how both sides think. There's also some drama that could come out of that between Adora, the rebellion, and Hordak, but being an 80's show it ignored that and tried to excuse Adora by having Hordak hide the fact that they were evil from her (even tho he openly call their group the Evil Horde) and Shadow Weaver brainwashing her.

But I don't expect the new show to deal with the last stuff, at least it all hinges on how kiddy the show is.

The problem is that those short lived fad-shows also suffer from not being able to generate side revenues from toys or merchandising, since the time it takes to make those deals is too long compared to the relevance of the products.
I'm really not sure how long they will be able to sustain that production with the little benefits it generate.

Dreamworks is a little odd like that because they are clearly hoping their shows will strike toy gold.
They made good toy sales with dragons so their shareholder meetings were always discussing about how they could do that again.

Dinotrux especially was a very “to sell toys” move.
The toys were ready to go the day the show launched!

Another odd thing to keep in mind which likely also gets occasional drops at shareholder meetings is the German market. Dreamworks shows air on German Television thanks to a deal with Super RTL (biggest channel aiming at younger audiences in Germany) which is fairly similar to the deal they have with Netflix.
And they tend to get some incredibly good ratings. Dragons had an incredibly successfull run with ~800k total views on average, some episodes even scratched 1000k. Other shows usually also get more than average ratings for the channel. More recently, Trollhunters and Spirit both had roughtly 600-700k of total views estimated.

You can bet your ass that shareholders would be interested in trying to emulate that in the States

But the fun is in how crazy the plot is and how limited(yet great looking) the animation was. At least that's always been my thought on it, nobody was watching He-Man and She-Ra thinking it was potentially great television limited by the technology of the 80's and the demands of Mattel, but that it was a fun, weird little gem from decades ago.

It be liking you said "The Room" was always a great idea or concept, but it needed someone other than Tommy Wiseau to make it. Missing the forest for the trees kinda deal.
