Batman is responsible for the half dozen bat offshoots though. Generally in the DC Universe Superhero families have something to do with each other, and even if they don't, welcome each other with open arms.

Maybe in the Marvel universe.

That would make a decent Shulk or Daredevil arc
Have a young upstart use a identity already in use but then they screw up and maybe have the orginal hero be held liable for damages

For a while, Hobgoblin was selling the "licenses" and gear for d-list villains in exchange for a cut of the profit. He caught up with the newer Hobgoblin and basically forced him into employment, IIRC. He did a similar thing for heroes in his Axis tie-in.
