You know what was really dumb. When red sonja would only sleep with those who could beat her, expecting them to be at a similar level to you is fine but restricting to outright better is dumb.

That's a big part of the barbarian fantasy dynamic. You do get some equal pairings but the idea of a pairing that's equal by default isn't a terribly old idea.
