>>97296836Thought I'd contribute since I saw a John K. thread, but I'm wondering if this happened to anyone else here.
Earlier this year, Johnny Boy was looking for some new talent for his up-and-coming Florida studio. Me, being the John K. fanatic, decided to apply for the role - and wouldn't you know it, I got a reply back from him. He was really interested in my work and wanted to see more stuff.
For about two weeks, John and I are sending messages back and forth - diggin' a lot of my pieces. Towards the end of the second week, he's asking me if I'd be willing to move to Florida for the position. Ecstatic, I let him know I'm eager and ready to start.
However, he decided not to message me back after that - at all. I wound up waiting about two months on this guy trying to contact me back (via email). After that period of time, I decided to give him one last shot and shoot him a Facebook message - it was left on read.
Just about a week or so later, an artist I follow on Instagram posted some Heartaches sketches that she had done for John. Apparently, John decided to choose her (rightfully so) and another local Californian artist to fill the new positions - neither of them accepted however, due to the way he is with female artists.
She also informed me that a couple of other cartoonists had the same thing happen to them - John doing a big song and dance about your stuff, getting you excited, and then never responding back after giving you a tease at a job.
Kind of a bummer to realize the guy who got you into animation is a complete tool.
