I kinda understand where OP is coming from since I went to animation school. I've been trying to find a reason to keep drawing, but seeing other artists draw better animations, comics, smut and weird stuff over the past year has almost made me give up. Like there's no reason to continue because someone else is doing a better job of it all and has even made it.

I'd say keep going and do your best, but this is coming from someone who is also feeling pretty clueless with what to do next.

I hate that being a cop out. You create the opportunities for luck to happen, that's why it's called a lucky strike. I thought similar to you but did a bullrun of art over this year and am close to 15k followers on some of my art accounts. It's not easy but it's easier than ever, you're just competing with the world instead of the elite. Learn to market yourself, and know your audience. There has to be a few 1000 that will accept you. You won't know if you don't do it. However don't have your head in your ass, recognition =/= money or a career, be realistic and git gud, your doubt will make you do nothing and then it'll turn into regret.

I respect the art I used to make even a few months ago, but I know I have completely evolved because I kept drawing. Honestly it seems like the one commonality that unites all artists is almost as soon as they've finished a work, they fucking hate it. Writers, painters, animators, etc. If you can look on something you did a week later and not find the flaws, it's shit and you're shit. It's kind of like growing up. I'm pretty sure you aren't even an artist to begin with.
Growing artists need criticism, it's something you should follow and use to further your growth, actual criticism. Telling someone that their art is shit isn't helpful, but telling something why their art is shit can help them a good deal.
Just complimenting them isn't useful, it leads to stagnation and simply staying where you are, or in extreme cases regressing back to where they had been before. Honestly, a compliment is more harmful to a budding artist than criticism ever will be. At least, those that are simply on the level of "this art is good", "cool" or other useless phrases.
What you're doing is stunting their growth, you fucking idiot.
