Majority of /co/ is fucking stupid in that it evaluates cartoons only in how much of a semblance of "lore" it has, as if anyone should care about the overarching narratives of the worlds of shit like Steven Universe or OK KO, which are so totally removed from reality and up their own asses with anime and video game shit that nobody should honestly take them *that* seriously.
For all practical purposes, live-action entertainment is currently superior to mainstream animation for storytelling and conveying of emotional themes. If your best argument against this is Cartoon Network or Disney XD shit, you probably know nothing about media in general. While I'm not a "cartoons should always just be visual gags" John K. fuck, the people who unironically enjoy the "plot" current lore cartoons have lower standards than even normies.
