And there are a ton of people trying to fit in either camp when they don't actually have much in common other than hating the other side.
For example, how can you consider American patriots and Civil War revisionists to be in the same camp?
Either you are pro US or pro Confederacy.
Just like neo-Marxist authoritarians really don't have a place in any camp that dubs itself liberal. Either you are for civil liberties or for state-enforced equality.
The terms liberal and conservative really don't mean shit these days, and I would even argue that given the legal status quo, liberal positions are the status quo for so long, they qualify for a conservative position by virtue of being a system that current generations have been born into. Trying to roll back civil rights or abortion is truthfully a regressive position just by virtue of returning to a previously overturned status quo.
But who gladly suffers to be dubbed a regressive segregationist? Even SJWs don't like that, despite their best efforts to prove that is really what they are.
