>>96055232>If she had to use the threat of magical power to keep the people in line she already fucked up.It's what kept her parents on the throne. She is the successor of a fucked up line of rulers. Yes, the rebellion is now in talks with her, but consider that the kingdom
- lost its adult king (stated to have huge magical power, and shown to be a formidable fighter on his own)
- lost its adult queen (shown to be an expert mage)
- lost all of its magical power, as it was not transferred to the new queen
- lost one of their chief generals (anaelle's brother)
- their army suffered a lot of fatalities
- a rebellion successfully stormed the castle, beat the guard, and killed the king and queen
- queen is now in peace talks with the rebellion, not squashing them outright
- it was even mentioned to be on the defensive from external aggressors
Which parts of these make it sound like there is a resemblance of strength in their kingdom? All it takes is another, more radical rebellion, or a rival kingdom smelling blood, and Anaelle will be dethroned or have her kingdom conquered.
If she had the magical power then she could at the minimum use it to nuke one or two regiments, at which point a typical invading army would go "nope, fuck this".
A show of strength is the #1 most important thing in politics. She has little to no strength to show at this point, the only thing to keep her on the throne is whatever goodwill the people have for her, as well as whatever loyalty the remains of their army still has.
