The diversity definitely plays a point, along with the fact manga is simply easier to get into.
Comics are known even among people who are into "nerd mediums" (That's cringy to say but I can't think of any other way to describe them) to have a particularly high entry barrier due to the fact a lot of these characters have existed for almost a hundred years, there's tons of interconnecting stories and well comics are just more expensive.
Manga on the other hand is constantly producing new series because they can be made by 1-2 people. Using shounen jump at an example, every friday a Japanese kid can pick up an issue of Shounen Jump which will usually include one chapter for 4-5 different series. Even if a kid has no interest in a series he may just check it out since it's there in the issue anyway all for about 5 dollars
This created a massive boom of popularity with kids obvious, then guess what? Those kids grow up and they get their kids into it while also still being into it themselves.
Meanwhile if a kid wanted a single issue of just a green latern run, that's like 2.50 right there and...that's it.
The Japanese are smart about their jewness and know what to give in order to build long term profit.
The west focuses on short term.
>>95976544Let me guess, you're under 18 and are sick of adults throwing that term in your face right? That's understandable but you're talking like a fucking retard. No one is using it as an excuse in anyway for anything, but anyone with half a brain recognizes how you interact in the world and what you see influences that you create, common fucking sense dipshit.
