>>95927213It had been building up (and acknowledged by MD) on social media for months, something which the fucking creators of the show participated in hyping up. There was a fucking petition.
Was it so hard for people at AS to think "hey, what if we listened to our fan demand and tried to contact MD to bring the sauce back as a tie in publicity stunt?". They didn't fucking have to wait until MD made it official that they were in fact bringing it back. By that point it was already too late even if it wasn't just a week before it happened. And don't give me "they didn't know they could bring the sauce back" because it's just a fucking recipe.
>Even if AS had "taken initiative" like you claim all MD had to do was say "No we're good" and things would've turned out exactly the same. Then Dan could whine in peace and I'd side with him that this is at least uncool for MD to do. As is it just makes him look like a sourgraped idiot.
>Besides if it had been official that probably would've made things worse [...]They could have easily changed the strategy from manufactured scarcity to what they do with all the other tie-ins they do, thanks to AS money and official advetisement. They pretty much couldn't make it a big thing if it was unofficial so it "forced" them to go for the scarcity thing so they can say "we're bringing this back largely due to popular demand" rather than "we're bringing this back due to Rick and Morty mentionning it".
And I'm not saying MD couldn't have also taken initiative, it's just that they can get 80% of what they would without the tie-in as is, they had less to gain than AS. And don't give me "this is negative publicity", mere exposure matters more than a couple of autists with hurt feelings.
