>>95592281It is a very creepy, low-budget, early Tim Burton movie about a couple who die and have to get into terms with the fact that they are now stuck as ghosts, and as prisoners of their own homes, while the world moves on unawares (their home gets sold, etc).
Beetlejuice is basically a side character. Also, he is extremely fucked up, imagine Heath Ledgers joker as an obscenely loud-mouthed, sadistic shape-shifter.
It also has its share of stop-motion, and some very great mask works. And it has a lot of Tim Burton envisioned scenery in it.
Basically it is like the darker, uglier parts in Nightmare before Christmas. It's not an A+ movie by any means, but it is easily a cult classic. Worth watching even if it is totally different from the cartoon.
