>>95430528The type of person that would unironically post something like this
>>95427339 is usually the type of person that would judge shit based on memes. To a degree the show's going to get backlash just for what it is, its premise hinges on there being no greater power to assign meaning to the universe. Stuff like Rick just abandoning his family after fucking up their dimension and going to live in a new one like nothing happened doesn't have the same effect if the viewer doesn't take a moment to consider why that might be fucked up and why it still would make sense for Rick to do.
The more intellectual bits of the show aren't really that inaccessible to most people that did OK in high school even if you might need to take a moment to reflect on what just happened, but it seems intellectual enough that some people want to act like it's some elitist attack on people who got C's or whatever. They'll say shit like
>>95438431 because someone else liking a show that could be construed as smart is a slight to all other forms of entertainment, even the the show itself is perfectly content to just have fart jokes and random fanservice for the fun of it.
It's not to say R&M fans are some special breed, they're fans of a popular series. On 4chan, if a topic is popular, it literally prevents other topics from being discussed, it'll bump them right of the page, and that in turn draws the ire of other fans who want /their/ children's cartoon to hog the front page so they can gush about something that annoys the shit out of everyone else. And obviously if a show has a reputation as being smart, there's going to be fans who'll want to appear smart because of it.
It's just not what 4chan likes to pretend it is. Most of these people are just annoyed that a show they don't particularly care about or have already had their fill of is continuing to be discussed and they're looking for the easiest way to lash out against whoever's annoying them in their eyes.
