>>95398112Watching this episode reminds me of EVERYTHING wrong with not just nu-PPG, but just modern cartoons in general.
It CAN'T stay on topic for even a second. It's just hopping from joke to joke to joke no matter how connected/disconnected it is from the overall narrative. Take the Poltergeist reference for example. What did this have to do with the previous two scenes that followed up to it? That Bubbles is nuts? It genuinely feels like there are six or seven different teams working on this who are not allowed to speak to one another, and at the end of the day a storyboarder has to piece their incoherent mess into a full episode.
They can't have a series of connected scenes that smoothly show two characters interacting, and then something they were talking about directly leading to the next scene without having five or six jump-cuts. Seriously. Count the number of pans in this show vs the number of jump cuts. This entire show is just jump cuts between unrelated jokes and unrelated conversations being had be people who are in the same fucking room together! It's like everyone is living on another planet and is communicating back and forth like it's a chat-room exchange.
Why is every cartoon like this nowadays? I can't fault PPG for being like this when TTGO is the same way, when Family Guy is the same way, when the Simpsons are the same way now. It's like people are writing cartoons like you would write a sunday morning comic strip compilation.
