He's probably letting it happen to work some angle of his. Like getting the other gods to sit up and pay attention to their offspring or care more about how their decisions affect the world.

Of course that begs the question of why he hasn't done anything about his daughter but who knows why that could be. Stern family discipline is in his portfolio so there has to be an angle there.

The difference in quality for an animated and stylized show, between 1080p and 720p is truly negligible.
Yet the file size is typically twice as large.

If you keep up with every currently airing anime and every currently airing cartoon. At 1080p. Do you have any idea of the rate of which you burn through those terabytes?
And 720p is already the standard for anime anyway since the source resolution is seldom much higher than that if higher at all, making 1080p literal upscales. And for consistency's sake, and for the sake of my storage space, I don't need my cartoons any higher than 720p either.

Yeah, they air in 1080p and are ripped in 1080p. I mean I could reencode them into 720p files without the subs for you in about an hour or two if you want, I just don't really see the point.

The point of the "downscaled hardsub" thing was to have a file that's playable on [insert device here] since people kept asking for it, hence they're smaller in resolution, have the subs burned in and use the baseline profile in H264. I could go even lower and make 480p 3GP versions if someone wants to watch them on a Nokia phone or something.

Most if not every device can play 8-bit H264 with SRT subs. The only thing I had problems with in the past were FLAC audio which doesn't seem to work on smart TVs.

Well, the lore around eliotropes is rather new, scarce and kinda bullshit.
During the OVAs, when Yugo used the six eliatrope Dofus he got the power of a God, and because of his turmoiled state of mind and subconscious desire to become the king he's meant to be, he unconsciously created a race that mirrored him, the Eliotropes. The Eliotropes simply appeared from nowhere at different points of time and space. Nonetheless, being a paradox, when they die all traces of them disappear. Testers also say they asked the devs about why they didn't appear in the show and the answer supposedly was that when Yugo and Adamai used the Eliacube (and brought back Qilby), the Eliotropes got stored inside the cube, disappearing from reality.

If you're up for something fairly low effort, there are official subs being released with the VODs after the episodes air live, BUT they tend to be incomplete and rephrase/cut off sentences. They would make translation and subbing a lot easier and give us a complete French transcript and timings to work with, if someone could watch the episode with them and fill in the blanks. I'll upload them in SRT format and the episodes on Saturday/Sunday a few minutes after they air.

In the meantime, if you or anyone else feels like it, they could also check the accuracy of the quicksubs, 8 and 7 in particular.

The interesting thing is that as a French speaker I often only notice puns in their NPC or location names after I see them translated. Coqueline/Mishell was one such example. Makes me wonder how much context they give their translators to navigate through all that.

"Human" in the Dofus/Wakfu universe is a weird term. There are:

- The Eliatrope goddess/Great Dragon
- Inside the universe they created, lifeforms such as the 12 gods and Rushu
- On the planet they rule, a lifeform known as "humans" (that were created by one of the 12 gods, Osamodas) who can convert to be Pandawas/Ouginaks/Ecaflips/Sadidas/etc
- Eliatropes, who descend from Eli/GD and are a separate thing altogether, the first six of which form the council and may be on par with or more powerful than the 12

I'm not sure if the "The Twelve" level gods were directly created by Eli and the GD, or if they're just something that popped up randomly in their ant farm. Also the 12 can supposedly interbreed with humans somehow and spawn demigods, who are then also implied to be capable of succeeding/replacing them.

I believe most of the info on that comes from books you can find in the Dofus MMO, or from old magazines.
As for how gods were made, after the Great Dragon and Eliatrope Goddess danced (thus creating the Krosmoz) the 10 original gods appeared, along with the 10 original demons (which Rushu is the only survivor, since he murdered the rest). This isn't even the first world they created, which is why they called it "World of Ten", they had already run out of names.

I miss the journeying, buildup and filler that S1&2 had for world stuff and seeing the characters in minor shenanigans but as one big plot, it's pretty good.

Plus most the characters are older and have responsibilities now. Ankama should be giving them closure and consider new characters or a 'Wakfu Z' thing with Elely and Flopin.

Personally would like some plotlines that aren't all "the fate of the world!! Crank it to +9000!!" for once. The comics and Kerub's stories are good examples of low tier stuff that's still interesting.

Maybe that's the appeal of the filler. Seeing the characters do something small like a baking contest or finding a thief.

Reminds me of a lot of the reason people liked Witcher 3's DLCs - the main game was an apocalyptic storyline, while the two DLCs focused on one man and a kingdom, respectively. I dig stories like that because they give the characters more room to breathe and grow than fate-of-the-world scenarios do.

I get the feeling that Oropo is either seriously naive, or he's just using the rest of the brotherhood and plans on taking over everything himself or doing something completely unexpected. I honestly have no idea what the guy's motivations even are, the whole "the twelve aren't doing their jobs properly" shtick wouldn't affect anyone to such a degree and make them THAT confident, it's the equivalent of someone planning to murder the entire UN assembly and every major head of state on the planet because they saw a lazy clerk make a spelling error somewhere. It just doesn't add up unless there's something huge we're missing.

If this whole thing ends with Oropo revealing that the whole plan was fake and that he's just been testing them this whole time to teach them the meaning of friendship, I'm going to be real fucking angry.

EliOtropes possess similar powers but they worship Yugo as their God-King ans cease to exist when they die, all memories or trace of them disappear, if I remember it correctly

I did, yeah. I honestly wouldn't have understood the specifics of the plot even if they were in English though, whenever I watch something live and follow the hype on 4chan it's all just "HOLY SHIT SOMETHING HAPPENED I GOTTA MAKE A SCREENCAP" while fifteen lines of dialogue fly by.

If you think about it though, context achieves a lot of the same things. This is kind of a re-run of the whole "accurate subbing" argument, my point is that it only SEEMS like you'd miss out on a ton of shit. For instance, why did Toxine backstab Echo and try to kill Eva's baby? If you watched the episode without the subs and didn't understand the dialogue, you'd immediately jump to "shit, they must have said something important". If you DO watch it with the subs though, you'll only have the same answer, "actually now that I think about it I have no idea, she just hates her because she's a cunt I guess". Same with Dathura not wanting to fight them and revealing the chameleon Ruel, or Arpagone keeping him hostage while Oropo appears and says something to him.

If I had to list an absolutely crucial dialogue-only hint, it would be something like Oropo's "nonexistence" line, or the fact that they're trying to replace the gods, or that Elely and Flopin are god candidates. Mostly because of how complex those plot points are, and how hard it would be to convey them by purely visual means given the timeframe available. Not impossible, mind you, just not in the span of a 20-30 second scene. They would probably be obvious if you watched all 13 episodes in a row.

As for Toxine, yeah, she seems to be a cunt, always trying to kill Eva, but knowing what srams are capable of in the Dofus/Wakfu universe, you'd know that they are basically assassins, backstabbers, they love usings poisons or traps to kill their victims, in a nutshell, they're a bunch of shady people to begin with (the Sram god could even do the same that I wouldn't be surprised).

Even in the 3rd episode Toxine is already trying to kill her, so you should know by episode 9 that she can hardly be trusted

The worst part is, Qilby has the ability to remember everything after dying. Which means if you kill him he'll keep his memories, his plans of a great exodus for the eliatropes, AND he'll remember his murderers who tried to stop his plans. So Qilby is basically irredeemable.
