>>95218694I just got finished watching the season, and I overall thought it was good, as in what is there and is high quality is as good as the rest of the show has ever been, it hasn't petered off and just become recycled garbage, it hasn't just tried too hard to become melodramatic, it has maintained a real consistent, great level of quality for a lot of its dramatic and comedic elements.
However, man, this season felt like it was just shoehorning in relevant political messages with no grace or dignity or depth, stuff like the fracking = bad I really wanted to be explored in depth rather than just having Diane be right again about everything, same for the female gun ownership thing, I thought it was a really interesting question they raised, but then instead of developing it, it was just killed off with MUH SEXISM, which wasn't funny or insightful but just felt like it came off the front page of tumblr (if it even has a front page?). Also, I just found Todd to be mostly annoying this season, the asexual thing becoming a big deal I felt was forced, I mean, I got the vibe that he just didn't really care about sex rather than being asexual being a big part of his character now and the lack of jokes about it that weren't kissing asexual ass was some telling silence. I thought the dentist/clown thing was pretty funny, and Todd can work when he's directed to doing something but jut having him flail around all the time as some childlike wonder really wore thin on me, I felt he was more of a "slacker with a heart of gold" originally rather than some nutty goofball who is always doing something wacky! Oh also I felt the gag with the Princess Caroline tongue twisters to just kind of be old and annoying.
Also, that episode where the house fell underground was just so bizarre, like it felt like it was from a completely different show and not in a good way, like, nobody seemed to address that Zach Braff was cooked and eaten by a group of celebrities, again, just so strange
