>>95000366>ButLatin Americans and US based people that speak spanish run it trhough the meat grinder all the time. There's a difference between real people butchering a language with their dialect to communicate with similar people, its real life and not a work of fiction.
>Like back when Blue Beetle had an issue in Spanish people complained that it was too close to Spain Spanish to sound right for a Mexican family.>I have a writer that's ESL Cuban and if we dare to drop any Spanish in our comic people always complain for it not being like /their/ Spanish. The key here is doing it well, chicanos dont talk like they learned the language from Spain or even their family's country, they speak this weird mix of spanglish that only works with Mexicans living closer to the border and other Chicanos. Similarly if your character is a native speaker they dont speak properly, they have mannerisms, they butcher their language to fit their enviroment because thats how they are supposed to sound.
You know whats better? Actually trying, Gabby isnt trying at all and fucks up all kinds of shit, her spanish is boring and unnatural and feels forced. She should watch more Telemundo to see how spanish speaking chicanos sound, they speak fluent spanish but there's plenty of times where they forget a word and it comes out in english.
Ultimately the problem lies on Gabby's inability to write human dialogue, like Bendis' stuff this sounds mechanical and dull, it doesnt help that she also cant write a plot to save her life.
