>>94893354Yea because a white male character has no limits in portrayal.
They can be a stoic hero, a douche, the goofy moron, the brainy one, etc and nobody gives a shit or complains.
Now a minority character or a woman, writers have to dance around a lot of issues when making one of those in a series because they have to be perfection and contain ZERO negative portrayals that can somehow be misunderstood as
>"Warner/Disney/Sony thinks all of ______ are stupid, pathetic, weak characters! Sue them for that horrible negative racist sexist portrayal!with ________ being anything from black guy, gay guy, woman, chinese guy, latino...it doesn't matter. The problem is that they are completely hampered when writing anything but a straight white guy because everything else must always be taken as a company stance on an issue or how they want the general audience to view all of X demographic across the world at the same time.
So if you want a comedic relief fat dumb character then you can get a straight white guy. Same for angry douche, alcoholic troublemaker, sleazy cheater, crazy person, depressed person, or paranoid person.
If you need a wealthy successful genius, or a flawless hero then you have free reign to use anybody you like.
