It'd be one thing if they said "of course we're gonna talk about Trump, how could we not", but the way he was talking about it you'd think 9/11 just happened.
The show got its kicks from mocking Hollywood, especially the notions of fame, success, and wealth that come with such an upscale, typically-liberal environment. But now that Trump won the election, they suddenly don't feel comfortable with mocking the Hollywood elite? Like they're some downtrodden minority group or something?
I'm still optimistic, I'm looking forward to the new season, but I'd be lying if I said that phrasing didn't make me a little nervous. No pun intended, but Trump jokes are basically a dead horse at this point. The only thing worse than the usual "lol he has stupid hair/he's orange/he wants to fuck his daughter" schtick is when people take it super seriously and begin weeping for the slaughtered dream of what America was supposed to be or whatever, as if we've never had an incompetent, abrasive, inexperienced moron as President before.
