>>94805181no pal, I can totally see your point, in fact I answered you in the first place because I'm also a Robin fan. I understand your thing about the soldier stuff, but I kinda like the implications, for example, it looks like they ret-conned the total lack of re-imagination of Jason Todd suit to a very interesting "this is not my costume/I don't fill the pants" thing, that's also what helped to define Drake lore. He wore red because he wanted to be a different robin (side note: and then they took his GOAT green trouser suit and gave it to animated Grayson, making young fans like me at that time totally confused)
That's what I respect that movie. Phill Bourassa is a total Robin dude, and he tends to narrate a lot of stuff in their designs. Sometimes the direction of the character itself might be strange to hardcore fans, but there's a reason, he refuses to change stuff only to look cool.
Hell, even when designing Young Justice's Grayson, where the writers went for a "full modern, full black and red, full tech ninja" (making him dangerously similar to Drake) he managed to hint stuff like some volume on the ankles to evoke pixie boots, or a visual clue of the typical red cloth under the belt.
Robins suit history is as interesting and convoluted as fucking x-men
