>>94059998The way I see it, your character is either "interesting" (say, Shinji from Evangelion), or "fun" (think Joseph Joestar). Interesting characters aren't always fun, and fun characters aren't always interesting. Either half will appeal to an audience however, and a truly fantastic character will be both interesting and fun.
I think Bunnie, Sally, and Nicole were interesting, but they weren't very fun to read, because their personalities didn't stand out too well. Sally has some goofy moments but more often then not she's spewing exposition and just kind of going along with the plot. Bunnie has a funny accent but only really talks to her boyfriend and doesn't do anything enjoyable of note.
The majority of the Sonic characters in the games were likable because they were "fun" personalities, not because they were interesting, and this carries over to the comics, with Sonic's snarky attitude, Cream's kindness, Shadow's stoic behavior. Many of the more loved OCs and recycle bin characters in the Archie Sonic reboot are "fun" characters in that they aren't super interesting, but they're enjoyable to read, such as Honey, Von Schlemmer, and Thunderbolt. I think it's crucial that with the Sonic comics, any new OCs (and there will be some, no doubt) should be consistently enjoyable to read first and foremost, and then their backstories and more multifaceted aspects of their personalities come later, if that makes sense.
