>>93534071If we go by Finnish folklore.
A shaman could contact the dead, but this required some out of body experience under influence of some herbs and mushrooms.
During this journey the shaman would go past the lake of Tuonela and seek out the deceased there.
You could only converse with the deceased and not bring them back, there was also a danger of being stuck in Tuonela and so the shaman had to be guarded at all times for signs of his life waning and in case of this he had to be awakened.
So, maybe, some spiritual visitations, some flashbacks definitely.
But no resurrections.
Dead coming back to the realm of the living was always a bad sign in Finnish folklore, you would go back to the realm of the living for two reasons, first, you didn't know you were dead and would only be shocked and scare your friends and family by re-appearing or to haunt the daylights out of the folks you didn't like.
Although, some ghosts came briefly back to show their grieving family a spot of a treasure they had hidden.
