give an honest display of who you are and who your character is, try to make it at the same time. Casting directors look just as much for the person as the preformance,
They always say nerves can be a good thing sometimes but if it ever becomes overwhelming say: "Im not at the mercy of them, they're at the mercy of me". It helps push you forward.
Take what I said there with a bit of salt, you don't want to appear abrasive (unless your character calls for it). you should still be a nice guy who should be easy to work with, because these people are going to be working with you.
everyone has the fear of embarrassing themselves, but embrace it, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, i sometimes tell myself, well Im sure someone gave a more embarrassing performance then Im about to give.
the casting directors will completely understand if your nervous
If a casting director asks you do it a certain way after you've given your attempt, thats a good thing, he wants to see if you can take direction.
