Instead of the endless back and forth over what Zootopia and Moana did better than each other, I've noticed several flaws that are shared between the two.
For starters, I think Disney has serious problems writing male AND female characters. Women are always portrayed as go-getters who are stubborn and naturally talented (Princess and the Frog, Frozen, Zootopia, Moana), extremely acrobatic (Tangled, Zootopia, Moana), and progressive in some way (Moana, Princess and the Frog, Zootopia).
Meanwhile guys are portrayed as shifty and untrustworthy (Zootopia, Tangled, Princess and the Frog, Frozen)
The villains have been pretty awful. Lava spirit(can't be assed to remember her name) and Bellwether are just two sides of the same coin, an antagonistic element introduced at the end of the film, difference is that Bellwether had less foreshadowing. A mindless monster has no menace, the villain of Moana might as well have been Bees.
Finally, Zootopia and Moana both have these pacing issues where the last third of the movie is slowed down by a "separation of the group" gimmick that has been seen countless times before (Maui leaving Moana, Judy going back to Bunny Burroughs)
