DARK NIGHTS: METAL #1

Most of all we want to create new material that feels really modern and different. And above all, it’s going to be fun. Even with terror and nightmares, it won’t be grim. DARK NIGHTS: METAL will be celebratory, huge and crazy.” — SCOTT SNYDER
“I’m looking forward to rock’n and roll’n together again. Fans have been loud and clear; they want more from us. We’re primed and ready to blow it up.” — GREG CAPULLO

MISTER MIRACLE #1 Written by TOM KING • Art by MITCH GERADS • Cover by NICK DERINGTON • Variant cover by MITCH GERADS Retailers: This issue will ship with two covers. Please see the order form for details. From the team behind THE SHERIFF OF BABYLON and the Hugo Award-nominated writer of Vision comes a unique new take on one of Jack Kirby’s most beloved New Gods. Scott Free is the greatest escape artist that ever lived. So great that he escaped Granny Goodness’ gruesome orphanage and the dangers of Apokolips to travel across galaxies and set up a new life on Earth with his wife, the former female fury known as Big Barda. Using the stage alter ego of Mister Miracle, he has made a career for himself showing off his acrobatic escape techniques. He even caught the attention of the Justice League, which counted him among its ranks. You might say Scott Free has everything...so why isn’t it enough? Mister Miracle has mastered every illusion, achieved every stunt, pulled off every trick—except one. He has never escaped death. Is it even possible? Our hero is going to have to kill himself if he wants to find out. Written by Tom King (BATMAN) and illustrated by Mitch Gerads (The Punisher), this is a MISTER MIRACLE unlike any you’ve read before. But yes, the diea of sandwitching him into the mix with TLE and JPL is retarded because those two actually have a similar style and going from either of those to a style like Crystal's feels weird and take you out. So even if he was good(but he's not), his style just isn't a good fit so whoever thought it was a good idea to rotate him in needs to be slapped.

>>92616599 What the fuck do you care about his family making money 20 years after he died? They've made money off his creations anyway and considering how crazy DC are about film rights they'll get an actual large sum for the Justice League movie and other characters where Kirby's characters will appear. These one shots are just pennies... if they even get anything for them.
But yes, it's a shit industry if you care mroea bout some people that didn't create anything making money off their father's creation than you do about the quality of content and the publisher honoring his legacy through good stories.

And he is right, for the past year Marvel has had betetr artists, by far. What, you think Jesus Merino, Pagulayan, Joe Bennett, Booth, Tony Daniel, Finch, Janin, Zircher, Kirkham, Shane Davis, Ching, Rocha are top tier talent? DC has very few great artist left and they'll probably lose them too. Ferreyra and Manapul are fantastic but... it kind of stops there. There are a few good ones like Evely or the guys on All Star Batman but they're not amazing.
Marvel has Del Mundo, Greg Smallwood, Christian Ward, Acuna, Jesus Saiz, Ramon Perez, Dauterman... they even had Frazer Irving on interiors recently.
Marvel has a stronger pool of artists right now. Deal with it.
