And who cares about his backstory, he worked best when he was an evil necromancer who wanted to destroy all life with no motive given. Tying him into the nuclear bomb was a disservice to his character and all the grand cosmic stuff was mostly unneeded.

It makes PB sort of look like a retard because in the past she was this badass who made a kingdom that lasted 800 years and then in season 1 she needs saving from real stupid shit. If you wanna be nice and squint really hard it can still kind of work out but you gotta delude yourself just a bit.
