As for the Sadornyx/Sugilite thing, the blogger forgets a thing.
Sugilite is not Garnet and Amethyst.
It's Ruby, Sapphire and Amethyst.
Ruby's anger issues, combined with Sapphire's stubborness, and Amethysts wild side gives a gem that's quick to anger, likes to break things and refuses to listen to reason.
Ruby and Sapphire work well because they've had time to work how to act as Garnet.
Also, a fusion is more than the sum of its parts and is basically a whole new Gem anyway.
