The scenes of him in Episode 1 are juxtaposed with the ENTIRE process of the Daughters of Aku being sent after him: from literal birth until the end of their training. Jack had been doing that for longer than Ashi and her sisters had been alive, and they're at least 18.
When Jack's shit gets stripped from him in Episode 2 in the space of minutes, it's to show that these 7 mean fucking BUSINESS because they're the first people that he's had trouble with since losing his sword, aka in the last 20-40 years (depending on when he lost it, it's unclear right now). Plus, this is right after the "best beetlebot ever" gets one-shotted without Jack even raising an eyebrow.
I didn't even realize all of that until a rewatch, but man after seeing what he did there I was so impressed. Genndy's still got it.
