>>91583096>S5E1: 8.5/10Stronger on a second watch since I realized how good the episode is at establishing Jack's psyche and how he's been in this rut without his sword for a long while.
>S5E2: 9.5/10Fucking awesome stuff. Baldwin's inflection was WAY better than I expected so it made the Aku scene really good to me. Once it got to Jack it was scene after scene of just fantastic classic Genndy.
>S5E3: 9/10Not as strong as 2, but had some great visuals, storytelling, action, etc.
>S5E4: 7/10Starts pretty well, but most of the episode turns into some (admittedly beautiful) scenery porn interspersed with Jack & Ashi character interactions that seemed a bit off tonally. Still a good episode, but it felt dragged out in the middle so they could go wild with the inside of the beast.
>S5E5: 8/10Armies vs Aku scene was awesome; great balance between comedy and some interesting injections and implications into the story. Jack showing Ashi Aku's evil was neat. Factory action scenes had noticeable amount of elongated, squash/stretch sort of animation used compared to the rest of the season; it felt like a guest animation director, although outside of looking different it was good. Final few minutes felt rushed, could've used another minute to establish why Jack walked off.
All in all pretty damn good for a half-way point. The best is yet to come, knowing Genndy. All I need is a few more scenes as good as some of the stuff in Episode 2 and the opening scene of Episode 5 and it's golden.
