Yeah, just sitting in his study all day, getting no exercise. Then again, animation and comics do terrible depictins of people who are handicapped. People in wheelchairs never get atrophied legs or pot bellies. They look like at any moment they could stand up and walk away from their chair and never look back. Characters with, say, cerebral palsy can walk and talk just fine, they just have crutches attached to their wrists as fashion accessories.

I think its... Bones? or CSI? one of those crimeshows, where the Tech/Labboratoory guy has like 3 PhDs and some other degrees, and is a totall techwiz working 16 hours a day, and hes still totally ripped.

Also, despite all that, he works long hours for no cash and generally shitty pay.

I feel you on this one, anon. I do find comics where every character seems to have the same body type and build to be a bit dull.

Then again, maybe that's because most cape comics aren't exactly fonts of creativity. I say that as a cape fan.

Prior to the movies Iron Man tended to look exactly like Captain America (washboard abs ect) except ... with a helmet.

There's clearly something going on; but I think it has more to do with the needs of a monthly schedule. You see quite a bit of sameFace and sameBody because that's really the only way you're going to be able to crank out 22+ pages even if they've gotten away from the House Style's at the Big Two in recent years.

It's why I don't buy trades. Trades were quick entertainment for kids, at first; now they just seem to be there to give fanboys something to complain about every month. There's no feeling of passion there, there's no vision.

It's why I stick to graphic novels now. I feel like a shift to producing in that format would be better for comic books as a medium.
