Octopus Pie is ending, so you can check it out. It's a pretty accurate representation of people in their 20's from what I've seen. You've got people growing, moving on and getting stuck in place. The art gets pretty good later on as well.

I think the way the artist can lay out space and time is pretty effective. They can also express a lot even without any words, take this culmination of an arc for a certain character, who is struggling to get her life back on track after a breakup:

Haha, nah. About ten years ago about all that was there video game comics.

a few things

-manga boom of early aughts inspired a lot of kids who wouldn't normally be into comics to get into them, which went through "i'm totally gonna be a mangaka" their weeb phase, and some of them followed through
-the kids who grew up with internet are adults as opposed to the tech inept pros of a decade or so ago
-making good content for free gets your name out there, vitally important for any sort of artist

Whilehe art quality here's no doubt impressive and labor intensive, I feel like comic's strength lies in the simplification of form, exaggeration of form, and ease of readability. Being highly detailed like this focuses on visual details that are extraneous and distracting.

Well when people use the term "straight shota" it refers to shota x women, hence the "straight" prefix.

Of course regular shota comics are going to be more common. There's a reason the straight stuff needs the prefix.

Plus, one comic of a woman seductively setting up a game of strip-chess for her lover, who is revealed to be a dog at the end of the story. But no action is depicted in that one.
