>>89592381>but there's no unifying cultureGOOD. The "unifying culture" of 4chan is a bad thing, as someone that's been posting here for 8 years. Every year a higher percentage of posts are worthless repeated memes over and over, often literally the exact fucking same meme word for word. Every board falls into this trap, the only exceptions are when boards are enforced with auto-rules like /r9k/.
Lets see some examples.
/b/ used to be a really nasty place with some interesting discussions and posts, but now it's fucking 60% porn, 20% cancer (YLYL thread LOL look at this banana! haha here's a CRINGE THREAD!), 10% bait ("cheese pizza" threads, scam threads), 5% nonsense, and 5% of the old decent content.
/v/... Jesus christ /v/. I used to be able to discuss video games there. You know what you can't fucking discuss there anymore? Videogames. On /v/. Because the vocal minority there is falseflaggers and shitposters baiting console wars. You literally can't even make a "hey anyone like this old PS1 game" thread without people coming in and saying "haha Sony sucks Sonyyger! Are you a nintoddler too, or a PCuck??? Hahahaha look at my golden face meme image" for 1/4+ of the few replies.
/a/ rarely discusses anime directly anymore, and almost never anything interesting that hasn't been done to death. It's all waifu shit, loli shit, 3x3 threads, and overused memes. It manages to keep some decent general threads for BIG series like One Piece and HxH, with some smaller successes like Yuyushiki getting threads all the time. However, the board should be a place you could talk about anime in general or ANY anime, not just the select few that /a/ prefers.
I like /co/ still just for the absurd threads where people actually discuss fun stuff like "hey if Timmy wished to be the strongest man on the beach what can stop him and what are the limits of the beach?" and have actual discussions. I wish capeshit had a separate board though.
