I am noticing a trend of "Marco wouldn't do that" vs "Star wouldn't do that". And I am noticing that it's usually Jarco fans that think better of Marco, and Starco fans that think better of Star.

Both of them are flawed, but I guess people tend to be more biased towards who they feel is the actual main character of the show or who they most identify with.

I will say this though. I think it's a little silly to think that Marco is more likely to behave like a shithead in "x situation" vs Star behaving like a shithead, when most of the hot water that they tend to land in is usually because Star was behaving like a shithead. Not that she's a bad person, I just feel like she's more likely to cause a problem than Marco is.

I'm a rabid anti-Starco fan and it's more people putting Marco on way too high a pedestal. I understand that Star isn't necessarily 'mature' and won't step up, but people who portray Marco like some real man paradigm security and confidence of confuse me.

Part of Marco's entire character is he's a huge fugging Dork and extremely insecure/makes nervous and neurotic decisions sometime. I guess I feel Star is the main character but Marco is the "Main character of the fandom" if you know what I mean, thus why everyone defends him and ships are monopolized entirely around him, being the only notable male in the main cast. Tom is too outside the box

I'm thinking it's more likely a slow buildup thing. Marco is a functional insecure weinie though, even if he got literally no character development from episode 1A, he would still be decent. Star was pretty much introduced to the concept of consequences at the start of the story.

It even extends to how they fight. Marco is a disciplined fighter, who can pretty much beat everything that can be beat by sufficient hands. Star is pretty much just clicking Metronome for most of the story, and getting away with it because she has high stats relative to everything on Earth to the point where anything she could really do would work.

My theory is that Star's feelings will actually get the better of her. And since she commands the power of MAGIC she can do literally whatever she wants. When spoken about it just in general terms, 'MAGIC' is the most OP shit by default. So she does something to alter Jackie's and Marco's relationship and further hers and Marco's. Without either of them being aware. Before the finale Marco finds out either by himself or because Star just can't keep it to herself anymore. That's when their relationship becomes strained. Another cliffhanger season finale. Then at least 6 months of hiatus.

I mean you probably went through this already but what do you think?

Perhaps she "means well" ultimately but she's still causing crazy trouble for everyone around her all the fucking time because she can't be arsed to think about the consequences of her ayyylmao shenanigans, she just does what she wants when it occurs to her, changes the rules of games so that she'll win etc. She claims that Marco is her best friend but she repeatedly gets him in life-threatening situations whoops lol, keeps destroying his house.

After all that "bestest of buds" bullshit she starts to literally question their friendship the MOMENT Marco isn't 100% on board with whatever it is she wants to do, but instead expresses discomfort with the situations she puts him in.

She's only friends with people when they do what she wants to do and keep her entertained. Sure, she might tolerate some minor whining that she can make fun of as long, as the person ultimately does what she wants to do, but in the end if things don't go her way she reacts extremely badly to it and refuses to see things from the other's viewpoint, even fucking including someone being reluctant to risk their life over a goddamn sandwich.

I seriously doubt it, because the crew seems to be taking the characters to different directions. They seem somewhat invested in Tom and his character growth arc and are making him a more and more sympathetic character with genuine vulnerabilities while simultaneously amping up Janna's creepy manipulative psycho tendencies up to 11 for the sake of comedy.

Jantom "works" only if you're more invested in Janna than Tom; for Tom, it'd be a horrible, disastrous relationship because Janna would just wreck any progress he's made with his anger management and provoke him for her entertainment, but for Janna it'd be amusing wish fulfillment, having a magical hottie at your beck and call. So if you want Janna to be happy and don't give a flying fuck about Tom's mental health and happiness, jantom seems like a nice idea.

But if you like Tom and want him to be happy, Jantom is a bad, bad, bad idea (unless Janna gets a complete character overhaul 180 face heel turn rewrite). And the crew seems to like Tom.

That could make Tom somewhat annoyed, but that would really affect his anger management. There's a small chance of it not happening, depending on what Daron's goals with the story actually are. Star and Marco not ending up together could be a key part of a narrative for both of them, particularly Star as the real main character of the show who developed the attraction first.

That being said, as events currently stand, Starco isn't exactly on the cards, even with the rest of season 2 episode synopsises. Some serious development between the two would have to go down for it to happen. However, that doesn't rule it out entirely given how the show has no qualms with having large developments happen all at once, Bon Bon being the strongest example of that of course.

Although, Marco and Tom ending up together is pretty much never going to happen, given the show is on a Disney channel. Best to stick to enjoying fan content as opposed to actually rooting for it to happen, because it simply won't.

You do have to remember not every story will follow the coming-to-age narrative exactly. If a character finds love the strange world, it won't be shocking they either stay, take their love with them, or figure out a way to still visit both.

The coming-to-age narrative is often related to coming out of the shell. I know Nefcy isn't contractually obligated to sink Starco for a statement she gave on an interview but it'd fit. Besides, old school shoujo loved to break couples from strange worlds, see Rayearth or Escaflowne.

It's pretty damn hard to avoid making Guy Star anything less than extremely feminine, the heart marks on the cheeks and general colour palette being the main offenders. Translating her overly affectionate and energetic personality too causes issues. I don't think I've seen a single male Star that really works. Marco rather amusingly is the complete opposite.

I think male Star could still work personality wise as far as being quirky etc., I think the wardrobe is the biggest hurdle, although I guess the whole physically affectionate quality could come off as stereotypically "gay best friend" or whatever on its own.

Both are viable options that the show could go with. I would imagine, given how season 2 was a near direct follow on from season 1's finale, that they will go with the summer vacation setting, or even just ignore the idea of adhering to a fictional time frame and keep things as they usually are settings wise.

From what Daron has said in the past, she doesn't want to put too much emphasis on school as the most important part of a teenagers life experiences, as such it's possible that she could avoid the use of the school for the early part of the season which is more in line with the summer vacation setting.

However, it's all speculation at this point, we can't know what they'll do until the info for season 3 comes out, which is likely a long way off.
