God forbid anything should enter the story that would meaningfully change a character!
Everyone's a special snowflake who never has to change or have a realistic confrontation with their inner demons! And now we have a literal interpretation of that metaphor!

Remember how librarian was supposed to be a temp job for Marten?
Remember Angus who tried to improve himself? We sure never saw him again!
Remember the cis white males Sven and Steve, who had the gall to sleep with women in a mature adult way? And then Sven showed some introspection, while Steve was just comfortable with who he was? When was the last time we saw them?
