It is a long and tortured story that I'm not sure if I even remember all the details, but basically she's not on the staff anymore due to a giant meltdown.

The actual details have never been released, but the most common rumor and the circumstantial evidence seems to be that Zuke was pushing for more creative control, specifically to focus the show more explicitly on Peridot and Lapis being a gay relationship between two non-neurotypical people, Sugar said hell no, and Zuke threw a tantrum that got her kicked off of the staff.
Somebody leaked posts from a restricted access blog that was never proven for sure to be Zuke's, but appeared very strongly to be Zuke's personal blog to bitch over everything.

Also, supposedly Zuke has bipolar disorder and wasn't taking her meds. If that's true then I can believe that something similar did happen for real, as I lived with someone like that for a while and I can say that unmedicated bipolar people are not fun to be around at all. It's like a disorder that specifically makes you into a giant asshole.

In fairness it's easy to go off when you're off your meds. Or on them sometimes. Moodswings with bipolar disorder are pretty normal. Depending on which type you are, you can go from the manic to the depressive stage once every month or so.

Or every week.
Or every day.

Or if you're really unlucky, every few hours or so. Shifting from manic to depressive. Understand, of course that the manic phase encompasses more than just elation and happiness, but can include other high energy emotions like anger or paranoia or fear.

The depressive phase is generally categorized by depression but once again, that's not the only emotion that can come as a result including anxiety, sleepiness or just a lack of overall motivation or interest.

Medication for bipolar disorder often comes in two distinctive types. Including mood elevators and mood STABILIZERS. And it's not like you're going to get a benefit if you don't have bipolar if you take either. Stabilizing your mood is as important as keeping it elevated. Otherwise you can start cycling fast and hard into a lot of different hard to handle emotions.

The short version is, it can make your emotions really unstable and that can make interactions with other people difficult since it means small things can set you off in either direction. Or first one direction, then the other.

Don't really see what they can do besides poofing and bubbling them. They're simpletons who have been give fairly clear orders. Plus their target has been corrupted, poofed and bubbled.

Although I guess it could segue into a "redemption" (quotations marks emphasized) arc for Jasper. The rubies keep throwing a big stink until Amethyst deliberately pops Jasper's bubble and releases the furious, mindless beast, and the rubies try to reason with it until they're forced to poof her themselves.

In tears, they bewail her and wonder aloud if she is lost forever. (Song? Wouldn't that be great, the rubies singing together?) And Steven vows to save Jasper.

Everything we've seen of the Ruby in Garnet makes me think she's only marginally smarter/less bullheaded than normal Rubies, so I feel like it might not be impossible to reason with at least some of them.

In the middle of one of her attacks, Jasper is fought by Connie with the help of her newly acquired fencing skills and Steven himself. Jasper is barely held back, but she's impressed by the power coming from the bond of the two.
This gives her a different view over the value of Earth and its habitants.

The entire point of Jasper's character is the old "Just because you're perfect on the outside doesn't mean that you are on the inside" thing. Maybe she's physically as perfect as a Jasper can get, but she's freaking bonkers mentally. I'm surprised how many people seem to miss this. It would make sense that if Rose Quartses were developed on Earth, they would be specialists in manipulating the plant life found there. It would be to the advantage of the Kindergartens and other gems stationed there if at least for landscaping and even more labor force.

That could actually work, something in the vein of The Tales of Ba Sing Se where we get a bunch of loosely related short stories about various side characters.

What could also work is if the story is the same for each and it's just the character perspective that changes. Let's say some sort of corrupted gem attacks the town and we have the citizenry having to deal with it while the CGs are off fucking around in space.

then having Connie come up and tell them the story of her, Lapis and Peridot protecting the town after they left.

I doubt it'll happen, but I also really hope it's a Catcher Freeman type episodes where Connie, Peridot and Lapis all tell different versions of what happened.

If they were accelerating to light speed, you'd be right.

But from the animation, it looks like the Ruby ship uses a sort of gravity assisted warp drive. The ship is bound to the black dot that appears around it and the black dot probably has the ability to scrunch space in such a way that you travel 'faster' than the speed of light but you're not actually accelerating so relativity doesn't affect you

Velocity is relative to the frame you're observing from, acceleration is objective though

I think it'd be better if Lapis and Peridot were mostly cool with the time delay because they're gems too, (we made ROBOTS) but Connie grew up, got friends, and since he left Connie in a quick message and flew away for years, she feels distant from Steven now, despite now being as old as him or even older.

Jasper is the only one that makes sense. She was the bubbled gem that still doesn't have a finished arc and is relevant with Homeworld looming and the Gems supposedly dealing with the Rubies earlier.

It could be Bismuth, but I'm not sure what relevance she'd have right now. It seems to early to pop her back out and deal with that whole problem.

I agree that it's not Centipeetle because I think it's safe to say that she wouldn't hurt Steven and co and they wouldn't assume she would.

But this bomb was really nice in that we have learned much about what Era 2 is like for Homeworld, about all those Gems from Earth, the Diamonds, and the effects of lacking gravitational dampening on hardlight projections as well as the psychological effects of a life in bliss.

This show has an impossible plot.

1.The Crystal Gems are too small of a rebel organization for their rebellion to make any sort of coherent sense against an intergalactic civilization such as the Gems.
2.The Gems are intergalactic aliens with tech so advanced it looks like magic, there is no way in fuck the CG can win.
3. Assuming the CG try to liberate Gems from the Diamond Authority, its a huge case of WHO THE FUCK CARES. Seriously fuck gems, all I care about is Earth issues.
4.Barely any villains at all makes Earth episodes of Steven Universe boring as shit, you have (insert corrupted gem) here and there but theres really no conflict or sense of despair when one of those things shows up because the humans are clueless about them.
5.The entire corrupted gems schtick, did the Diamonds think the corrupted gems would kill the CG overtime? Why didnt they test it out on gems back on HW? Why Earth? Why SO PLOT CONVENIENT?
6.Making corrupted gem dumb animals with no self awareness, I would have preferred if those beast actually had personalities and it would make it more morally ambiguous instead of generic HURR EVIL MONSTER.
7.Gems bodies are not light they are actually a simulation of matter so Rose can actually breed with Greg.
8.For the love of god give us villains please!

Well the show is still going, so they could get better development. Korra and Asami literally happened in the last minutes of the show with no build up, and was ambiguous enough that they had to clarify on social media.
Just have Peridot and Lapis kiss before the final episode and it'd already be better than what Korra did.

Each Diamond controls certain planets under Diamond Authority rule.

They each have soldiers, scholars, grunts, etc.
