The Archie wedding story got news attention and sales picked up in the direct market for a change. They noticed this, so started doing more events and publishing stuff specifically for the direct market.
Life With Archie magazine did well at first. Afterlife With Archie did great and got a lot of buzz and more media attention. They decided to keep doing their classic stories for the newsstand market in digests, and try something else for the direct market.
Archie relaunch with Fiona Staples, did great. They've added more to the line and all sell decently in the direct market. They aren't aiming these comics at kids, but adults that remember Archie fondly from their childhood and are still interested in the characters.
