>>88613860There have been multiple threads about that. I remember one writing project that went into a lot of detail on how book 1 might've been like if written by /co/. It went something like this:
When Korra gets chased by the metalbender cops, she bumps into Asami's moped. Asami assumes Korra must be a criminal. They fight and the police arrest them both. In the jail, the two become friends after talking about their mutual fondness for pro-bending.
Later they go to pro-bending arena together, where they meet Bolin. In this version, the brothers' triad past has a larger role. Mako's still pressured by gang members he used to deal with, and he's trying to make sure Bolin's unaware of it and happy. Mako's the one who ends up kidnapped by the equalists. Bolin asks Korra for help, and Korra decides to bring Asami too.
Korra forgives the brothers' past quickly. Asami holds a long grudge against Mako because her mother was killed by a firebender triad guy. No love-triangle, the main focus is on non-romantic character chemistry. Korra tipping the cops to raid Hiroshi nearly ends her friendship with Asami.
Lin's hostility towards Korra is about Korra's brash personality and association with (former) criminals. Lin dislikes Mako, but he slowly gains her approval during the series. When Lin takes Korra's friends out of the jail, the group has to fight the police to escape. They become fugitives. Asami decides to take the opportunity to infiltrate the equalists as a spy.
There was a lot more detail, but I forget most of it and it wouldn't fit inside a single post anyway.
