I like him for one sole reason. He is Spiderman, but not THE Spiderman. It was only decently put in one, maybe two pages where they have his fangirl freak about how "awesome it is to have a black Spiderman" Cough, and woman thor/black Captain America, cough
and he laments on how he doesn't want to be "the black spiderman", just Spiderman. But. He. Can't. Because he was not the original, he will never be THE. Honestly, I am okay with the "passing on the torch" trope if done right, but when people try to make it so X-b is just X-a with some sliiight difference on how people treat them due to their race/gender... I won't eat shit just because you put it in front of me.
Digressing. Having him acknowledge he wants to be THE Spiderman, and sad he isn't, just felt right. Plus there are worse people you could make Spiderman... Like Captain America, or Harry.
