>>88368013It began with AT, Cartoon Network started to allow the creators of the shows to make their working crew with ANYONE that they wanted - They got to choose who would work on the storyboards, the music and as VAs freely.
The idea was to give more power and freedom to the people behind the show, and make things more flexible, this was the transition from shows fucused more on script to shows focused more on the storyboard.
This IS the reason that we got plenty of good stuff on AT, RS and SU. On the other side, it also caused said creators to contract people with almost no experience on the area, just because they liked their drawings on tumblr, and plenty of times these people were show to be subpar or difficult to work with.
It is still not as much of a bad decision as the NUppg idea, that was suppused to be entirely made by people who never worked on the industry before, to be "fresh". Most people working there never went to Calarts or any other animation school, and the few that have experiece - like the people that made 12 Forever - have to basically teach and look after everyone.
It actually is just a test ground for cheaper animation, focused mostly on marketing, and a training ground for cheaper animators for the other shows that "just happen to have" the same art style.
