Well /co/, my plan has backfired. It was all going fine. The wife and I were on the sofa drinking, watching the Peanuts animated specials all in a row. I had included the Most Offensive Video versions after, intending to pass them off as redubbed ghetto versions that were officially released to appeal to the inner city and see how long she believed it. So where did it go wrong? The in-laws turned up for a surprise visit. They came on in as, you know, I can't turn them away in that situation, and sat down. I went to sort out tea. I forgot to pause the TV. "Peanuts!" The mother in law exclaimed, "I loved Snoopy when I was younger!" and it's true. She still has a Snoopy mug from the 70s in the cupboard. The wife knew instantly they were a wind up. The mother in law just watched, confused. The father in law said he had no idea what they were talking about ("Is this in German or something?". Questions were asked. Excuses were made. "It, er.... it was a different time back then." before elaborating that they wanted all copies of these destroyed due to their sensitive nature. I got away with it, I think, they've just left, but HOLY SHIT I am sweating like Jimmy Saville in a maternity ward after all that.

Repostan Like in years past, I'll be hosting a few little competitions, and the arbitrary winner will receive a gift from their wishlist. So we are going to start with a music contest. Your challenge is record a Christmas song. You can sing, you can play an instrument, you do do a classic song, a parody, an original, whatever you choose! Just create and share some kind of Christmas music. I'd share last year's, but everyone uploaded to Vocaroo and they delete too quickly so they are lost forever. Send your entries to secretsantajador@gmail.com with your wishlist number. You have until December 9, after which the entries will be shared and a winner will be chosen. Feel free to ask any questions here or e-mail.

Fun fact: In the Nordic countries days used to begin at sunset (like 2-5 PM this time of year) so our December the 25th used to start on the evening of the rest of the world's 24th, and to this day we celebrate Christmas on the 24th instead of the 25th even though our days now begin at midnight.

Good Evening /co/!
Welcome to the 2nd annual edition of "NAME THAT CHRISTMAS CAROL"! In case you missed it last year, here's how it works:
I play piano for all you fine folks, and provide recordings of four different obscure Christmas carols. It is up to YOU to try and figure out the titles for each one! The winner will receive one book from their wishlist ($35 limit) and the knowledge that you are a giant music nerd.
Please quote this post when providing your responses, and please try to spoiler tag your guesses to keep from tipping off other contestants
I'll put a 72-hour time limit on responses for now, but will extend it if you guys are well and truly stumped.
So without further ado, here are your songs for this evening!

Alright /co/mrades, Here’s a fun twist on the crypto formula. Should still be pretty easy, but I'm adding challenge as we get deeper into the season . This is a two-stage puzzle. I ran a classic Christmas quote/reference/lyric through google translate. You now need to solve a crypto drawn from the resulting garbled english soup. Then to win the prize, provide me with the puzzle solution AND the original quote/reference/lyric! Remember to post your wishlist with your spoilered answer (if you've already won, you can't win again). First place wins a prize, second place wins derisive laughter. Have fun! Saw Moana tonight with the family and enjoyed it. Our son got a little cranky toward the latter part of the film, so my wife took him out side to walk around and ended up missing the finale. Regardless, we all enjoyed it quite a bit and I'd like to thank the anon(s) who recommended it.
Sadly, we were all a bit too tired for much else after a long day, so we postponed trying out a local pizza place called "The Rock", which I've continually pestered my wife about by asking "Can you smell what The Rock is cooking?" as we drive by on family outings. I came up with pic related and everything to commemorate the event.

Fun fact of the day: On the 13th of December Sweden celebrates Saint Lucy's Day/Lucia. It's a tradition with murky pagan roots that was probably celebrated to mark the year's longest night and the start of the Christmas fast. And to ward of spirits/evil creatures who would bring bad fortune to your farm or steal your children. It doesn't have a whole lot to do with the Sicilian saint of the same name and theses days it's mainly celebrated with lucia processions in churches, schools and other more or less public places. These processions are led by Lucia, a girl (traditionally with long, blonde hair) in a white dress, a red waistband and a crown of candles (electric or real) on her head. She's accompanied by a variety of maids with no crown and blue waistbands, star boys, gingerbread men and tomtar (elfs, sorta). They sing songs and might hand out gingerbread and a wheat based bread with saffron called "lussekatt" to the audience. What's your countries weird holiday tradittions /co/?

Decade itself is worth watching for one reason only and that's Decade himself. Riddler, point of order for the next set of riddles, can you just make the hint and box numbers agree with each other? It was a little confusing (not the fun kind of riddle confused, either. mechanical confusion sucks) trying to figure out where I was compared to everyone else. >you posted the first hint to unlock box 1 >hint1.txt unlocks box2 >hint2.txt unlocks box3 And so on and so forth. It'd be easier for my simple brain if hint 1 opened box 1.
