She casts Haste
Think she's done a slowing effect at some point? Don't recall.
Lots of using glyphs for mobility, launch points, catch/landing points, etc.
Dust bolts from her sword in Players and Pieces.
White trailer snare and trap glyphs.
Walls and blocks of ice to hold enemies or change battlefield shape for team advantage (Nevermore in P&P, opening fight with ABRN).
Entry level summoning.

She's not even that low-level, it's just that most of her spells are based around making her a better fighter rather than cultivating potential as a combat mage; they compliment her fighting style rather than Being the fighting style usually. The Battle of Beacon has her dashing left and right and blasting drones about without too much trouble until she really pushed it with the Summon.

Good point. Qrow has been watching them for a long time. Qrow might be a drinker, but he would never drop his guard and lose sight of Ruby and her team.

If Tyrian comes, it won't take long before Qrow intervenes. We might finally have a serious fight with him. I don't expect Tyrian to die. He will probably flee and report to Salem that Ruby is being protected by Qrow, which makes things harder. So he goes back to searching for the Spring Maiden.

I agree that Qrow would jump into a fight RNJR couldn't win, but that's not to say him knowing who they are and where they might be going wouldn't be of incredibly value

Roman was originally intended to be an irrelevant villain to the story, he was supposed to die in volume 1, then again in volume 2, but was kept around as long as he did because of popularity.

Neo was added later because Monty got inspired by a Roman genderbend cosplay and decided to give Roman a bodyguard type character, so she was never intended to be relevant either.

Ruby is a Harbinger maining Riven Hourglass with some Primal Fury and Silver Crane on the side.
Weiss is a Mystic (stat swapped the Wis for Int) prestiging into Animus Adept maining Scarlet Throne and Elemental Flux. Glyphs for Days. Nab the Conjuration Sphere through feats.
Blake is a Stalker with the Vigilante Archetype, with the Mirror of the Moon feat for her clones.
Yang is a Bloodrager (Golden Dragon) multiclassed with a Broken Blade heavy Steelfist Commando build.

Jaune varies depending on how many of his memes you want to throw into his build (I have a Warlord build for him that gets all of his memes, to one degree or another).
Nora is a straight Warlord, with a really big hammer and heavy investment into Primal Fury, and never leaving the Air element for Elemental Flux.
Pyrrha is a Warder maining Broken Blade and Iron Tortoise who nabbed the Telekinesis Sphere through her feats.
Ren is a straight Stalker. Literally Ren in a can.

I mean fuck, man. You have Blake based of WISDOM, of all stats, you gave Yang the single most useless class ever. Of all time. Magi could work for Weiss, but why bother when Mystic into Animus Adept is literally her, down to the use of Glyphs and elemental abilities to buff themselves/attack their enemies? And Diamond Mind? On Ruby? She's about the exact opposite of the precision that school implies.

If you're gonna use 3.5, rather than Harbinger (which is Ruby in a can, as you can, without heavy optimization, get a move speed of 200+ with that class), it should just be Warblade into Eternal Blade, man.

Honestly I'm unsure if that's possible. It's why environmental defenses were so important when they covered it in the world of remnant shorts. Hunters were the best they had at the time until tech advanced in atlas where the knights largely took over wall duty which was racking up casualties. And the endgame was platoons of knights with a penny and spec ops in a paladin for more complicated decision making which would let them go wherever and do whatever the fuck they wanted.

Clones are a really, really bad area to dip into. You have to give them accelerated aging which limtis their effectiveness. You have to sterilize them to partially control them. You have to give them deficiencies or other means to maintain control and even then you'll still have to constantly prune the ones that break conditioning to think about such basic things like holy shit I have no reason to live let alone fight until I die agaisnt unspeakable horrors. You're basically making-bioknights that are just straight up worse in all the ways that matter. Remnant isn't fighting separatist droid armies, they don't need cunning and intellect. They need brute force and numbers to eradicate without the double edged sword of more negative emotions fueling the grimm.

Sort of. Knights still weren't all that good. Basically normies with less growing and training time. That's what Penny was for. The edge they needed was a synthetic hunter. Able to stop the big game that was capable of wiping out half if not all of a platoon by itself. And with them rarely being alone it would be impractical to expand with a basis of mostly knights and humans that got creamed constantly.

It's been 3 years so forgive me if I'm wrong but they haven't found a way to stop grimm so it's basically just settle somewhere and tell the grimm to fuck off when they show up. Through history they'd been unable to hold where environmental advantages and fortifications allowed them to tentatively hold on. And like they just found out, there's a trade off between the control uplink vulnerability and the difficulty of autonomy and they just got schooled on that hard.

They're worse than robots because their negative emotions feeding the grimm as you chuck them into a meatgrinder. You're basically saying send in jedi-less clone troopers to take on dozens of Sith at a time until they temporarily clear the region or get overwhelmed. That's before getting into problems with clones in general.

Faunus aren't a warrior race that are all much better than protecting themselves from humans, they're the same with night vision and maybe some animal senses and there's weak defenseless Faunus that will be Grimm chow just as easily.

At least Raven admits she doesn't give a fuck about anyone other their her bandit group, all of whom are presumably capable of fighting off Grimm. Adam is just getting his own people he supposedly wants to help get killed.

I always figured Ruby and Pyrrha had a good friendship, but like most things it was all offscreen.

I'll give you the cliff notes, because normally posting links doesn't go over well on generals.

Basically, I think red eyes are sort of a counterpart to silver eyes, making grimm see the user as one of their own.

I got the idea when the waitress identified raven as the red eyed woman, using her eye color as a unique identifier and thus making it a focal point so soon after the silver eyes reveal. In addition, silver and red are kind of a binary with these wizard of oz motifs, since the ruby slippers were originally silver.

We've met a few people with red eyes and every single one of them has either sicked grimm on people with no fear of being targeted, or is implied to have done so in the past

Salem is the main offender, but as a bandit and former bandit, Raven and Qrow have done so as well. Since the bandits are described as tribes, it implies that they are related to the Branwens, and likely have the same eyes, which explains how people who subsist by causing negative emotions and live in small groups unprotected by walls or natural barriers could survive the grimm in the wilderness.

It also explains how Qrow, an alcoholic with very poor impulse control, could have survived long enough to get as strong as he is

I think the main issue is that it was originally going to be Jaune to see Pyrrha die, and cause her to die.

While Ruby is a better change, they had nothing prior to really make their friendship stand out that much, because what happened wasnt planned out in the long run.

Volume 3 would have been best to show something more of a friendship between the two, but they also had to push in the Jaune interactions with Pyrrha.

She dumps it after being in the season for two minutes.
Yang has a golden arm cap in her character art, the one we see is clearly silver.
And then she ends up putting on the arm.

Misleading the audience with official artwork is a common way to avoid spoilers.

Besides they've made it clear it's not being down an arm that's the problem, it was being so helpless and outgunned despite her confidence and bluster up till then, and one arm or two arms won't reflect that.

She'd probably take it just as badly if Adam just gave her a nasty scar instead of taking a limb. It's the fear (something she hadn't felt in a good long time) that's the problem.

Same here, don't know how exactly, but JNPR feel like more of a team than RWBY. It's like team RWBY is made of four great individual characters, but as a team it diminishes them. Where as JNPR feel better as a team.

I don't care for most of RWBYs team dynamic. Weiss and Ruby are cool but I loathe when Yang or Blake having focus. Weiss racism didn't bring anything really interesting with her relationship with Blake and she gets over it by the end of Volume 1 which is kinda lame.

JNPR I loved Nora and Ren from the moment they appeared on screen, Jaune and Pyrrha are comfy af, and Jaune thinking Ren is his BFF is kinda funny to me. I only wish Pyrrha got to interact with Nora to have some girl talk.

How they'v handled team RWBY is messy as all hell, and the thing is that we see far more of their story, hear more of their feelings than we do with JNPR, even with Jaune and Pyrrhas whole thing going on, we still technically have more going on with RWBY and how everything around them is working off their lives.

There's more mistakes we can find, clunky writing and odd characterization and interaction choices.

We see little enough of JNPR as a whole to find them more appealing, while Jaune and Pyrrha have some bullshit clunky writing, Nora and Ren were pretty much the same as they were from episode 1 (Talking only up to volume 3, not volume 4) with only a few bits thrown in to get their feelings for each other, but there's no development, there's nothing to really ruin their characters.

I dont think they were generally "better", they just didnt have enough done to really ruin them as a whole.

Where as team RWBY has more of a focus to each character, allowing for writing issues to really ruin their whole dynamic.

Most shounen protagonists/underdog protagonists undergo very little personal development. It's always some bleeding heart cause or some random inspiration that compels them to improve themselves.

Jaune has had his driving inspiration change throughout the series. Not only that but he's always had some degree of self-doubt and internal criticism that acts as an undercurrent.

He doesn't have nearly as much screentime as a typical shounen protagonist (nobody from RWBY does), and yet he still feels more realistic and developed than most of them.

It's absolute bullshit that this is coming from a character who was intended to be minor and far less relevant, and it pisses me off to no end that none of this sort of shit goes into anyone of RWBY, I dont give a shit about Jaune and he's getting the important character bullshit that is supposed to make an audience connect with him more.

Maybe we'll see something similar for Yang and her training, or maybe Weiss, but I dont really trust that these guys know entirely what they're doing with Team RWBY.

Everyone else in RWBY, and NPR for that matter already showned up being badasses because that's how the schools work.

It's cause Pyrrha's character arc couldn't really go further than it already did anyways and her dying in some way was integral for Jaune's to move along. She was Jaune's crutch.

Ren and Nora are kinda there so they fit in with any pair.

Finally, Ruby, in order to truly shine as a main character, needed a bunch of side characters in order to show how truly powerful she is. It also helps, as one person said, it's team JNPR but it's Ruby's mission. This centers the journey on her as JNR are basically just hired goons/pokemon.

I do think Raven's are special though, at least in some way. Qrow probably got the wrong end of the stick to get the magical shit from them.

If Ruby is Qrow's kid, would that mean that the Branwen special power can only be passed down to females, hence why Yang does it?
Because I'd be alright with more gender locked powers.

I think the distinction might be that Raven and Yang's red eyes are more...vibrant. Compared to say Qrow or Emerald's, who have darker, more normal-looking eyes.
