QUESTION: How fast does a bat need to be going to actually crash through a window?

I mean I would assume that Wayne Manor has some decent quality windows and I can't imagine this lil guy here being especially heavy.

It depends on the type of glass. Wayne manor is old as shit so it probably has shitty glass. Birds usually fly around 20mph and have been known to bust through windows, so bats are probably the same. Their extra weight might affect that a bit but who cares.

well even the flying fox weights about 2 lbs as an adult. Im not sure what birds smash through peoples windows to make a fair comparison though.

Most common for Midwest and east coast is the Indiana bat at .25 ounces. Largest in North America is the hoary bat at .96 ounces. Top speed? No idea.

A flying fox, assuming a weight of 2 lbs and a top speed of 50 km/h, would result in a 125 newton impact, which is about what you'd get with a stray baseball.

The actual strength of glass requires knowledge of the dimensions of the window pane and complex engineering equations I don't care to look up right now.

Suffice to say a flying fox escaped from Gotham Zoo could do it. Natively american species couldn't.
