Everytime Rorschach's behaviour escalates and becomes worse, more violent, it is triggered by sexual abuse.
1. When Rorschach is confronted by the street boys, he tries to avoid confrontation until they suggest sexually harassing him - removing his pants and checking for 'cooties'. It's at this point Walter loses complete control of his faculties and behaves "just like a rabid/mad dog".
2. Kitty Genovese - a woman raped in broad daylight - who inspired him to become Rorschach.
3. Rorschach clearly identifies with abused children, but he doesn't become a radicalised vigilante until he discovers Blaire Roche's panties and infers that she was abused.
Rorschach probably has PTSD (see his flashbacks during the interview session) and it's fair to assume that sexuality is a trigger for him. Despite his hatred of all this criminal and his serious misogyny, can't interact with prostitutes, let alone punish them. Rorschach describes breasts as littering billboards. They physically upset him.
Rorschach's aversion to touch is suggestive of an abuse victim.
Rorschach's gay panic ("possibly homosexual") is indicative of male-on-male sexual abuse.
Rorschach has a particular vitriol for rapists that he doesn't have for any other class of criminal - not murderers, not drug pushers. He attacks (possibly strangles) a rapist and says that the night is especially kind or rewarding to him. He murders a rapist, carving "never" on his chest, to show the police what he's about. I already mentioned the Roche case.
Rorschach clearly identifies and projects himself on his victims ("personal reasons"). The victims Rorschach becomes the most upset by are rape victims. I think the reason is clear.
(Also he's bisexual.)
