It treated the viewers(adults and children alike} like mature people that can understand deep concepts.

It wasn't, really.
It also had no deeper meaning or anything. They had a marathon of this in CN a couple of months ago and I watched the whole thing expecting it to get better.
Even the authors themselves said they were trying to look pretentious on purpose due to the mc being a dumb pretentious teen.
