>>87309213> Radical X is never good, no matter what the X isDiscussed by actual, rational people? Half of what Tumblr talks about isn't inherently disagreeable. They just do it in the dumbest way possible, taken to the worst and most unreasonable extreme, and in a way that inherently villainizes any point of view that isn't their own instead of having actual discussion.
Like, how do you refer to an individual in a gender neutral fashion? Other languages can do it, but english can't because 'they' is inaccurate and 'it' is inherently dehumanizing. English bastardizes other languages to fill in for whatever we want, so its not like we couldn't come up with an answer to that question if we wanted. But making up a spectrum of 25 different pronouns and trying to ignore that for the vast majority of people this shit is never going to come up in conversation isn't the answer. For much the same reason that you can't actually blame people for referring to you by the pronoun that they assume is correct when they see you. Everyone else they know falls into two camps and the wires only rarely get crossed. Unless it is someone that knows you and you expect to give a shit about your feelings, asking them to cater to your desires is simply not a realistic expectation.
