Marvel's panicking with the failure of Marvel Now 2.0. The company is fucked since they have locked down pretty much the company's direction through the summer of 2017. Avengers are locked in with Hydra War (which had to be reworked due to the backlash against Hydra Cap), X-Men are locked in with X-Men Vs Inhumans, though they have a little bit more wiggle room. The only franchise not locked down are Deadpool and Spider-Man, though Deadpool's in doubt due to the fear that the Mercs For Money spin-offs tanking might carry over to the main Deadpool book.

As it stands, if anything major changes, it will be with Spider-Man. The current plan being pushed, is for Gwen Stacy, via Clone Conspiracy to survive that series and for Marvel to reunite Gwen/Peter as a couple in the main Marvel Universe, while using Renew Your Vows as a soft reboot for a more old school friendly comic universe akin to the Ultimates.

Already, there are talks about retconning X-Men '92 into being part of the Renew Your Vows universe and potentially launching an Avengers '92 style book as well. The notion is to do what Archie did with "Life With Archie": Gwen/Peter Shippers would get the main Marvel Universe while the MJ/Peter shippers get the Ultimate Marvel 2.0 Universe.

Plans now are to basically get Hydra War over as quick as possible, with it being a Stand-Off style mini-Xover for the Avengers line. What happens next is not clear, but there is talk about culling the Avengers line and bringing someone outside of Marvel to do what Grant Morrison did with the X-Men books. Whedon has been approached, to write Avengers with a "traditional" line-up of the current legacy characters (Jane Foster, the new female Iron Man, Falcon-Cap, plus four-five "traditional" Avengers: Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Jan Pym, Black Panther, and one or two high profile X-Men (Rogue and Wolverine)
