It's easy to hide inexperience behind style and then get mired in the result. Make actual character models, practice drawing parts of your characters you're not sure about (hands, joints, expressions, faces), also were you going for a garish marker-drawn kind of color pallet? It's OK if your early strips are inconsistent and your characters look different because you're experimenting, it's not OK if your characters are still doing that years from now because you're sill not sure what the fuck you're doing and what works or doesn't.
