>"So you're tellin' me this thing can grow stuff? Just looks like a flashlight to me." Wendy said, as she sat on Dipper's bed next to him, skeptical at the ordinary looking
device he had practically fallen over himself to retrieve from the twins' shared attic.
>After their encounter with Gideon, Dipper had considered smashing what they had left of the curious gems, but couldn't help but take the opportunity to show his older infatuation what they could do. Gravity Falls had so many wonders and she had seen so few of them, after all.
>"No it is, but it's the crystal that's attached that does it. I found them out in the woods and the journal told me ... well here, look at this." Dipper said, aiming it at one of the pillows on Mabel's bed. As he flipped the switch on the flashlight, the glow shot straight across the room and began to take effect. Although it was only alight for a few seconds, it was enough time to inflate it to half the size of the bed itself, like one of those giant novelty plushes at the fair only a bribe would earn easily.
>"Whoa dude, that's awesome!" Wendy exclaimed, "I gotta try that!" Without thinking, she had snatched it out of his hands and had it pointed base up toward her face. "Ok, so it's forward or ...." she said, as she fiddled with the rectangular switch that activated the light.
>Suddenly, another bright flash appeared before them, temporarily blinding them as it entered the musty room so close to their eyes.
>"Guhhh," Dipper groaned.
>Once she could raise her eyelids safely, Wendy's lips went from an amazed circle to a crooked grin.
>Dipper felt like he had just eaten six stacks of pancakes at Greasy's Diner. Or a Smokey Joe's buffet plate piled as tall as he was. Or a single glass of Mabel Juice. He could feel a distinct heft at the pit of his stomach, and yet, his torso also jittered and gurgled, like he hadn't eaten in days. His eyes shot down to investigate and instinctively his arms jumped to his head in surprise.
