>>86482025In that context it would mean that an individual Jew seeks power in order to change the world in a massive, revolutionary way he sees as helping others. Have you ever heard the phrase "The road to hell is paved with good intentions"? However, this mentality can be dangerous, as everyone has a subjective morality, and a different idea of what is "good." I believe that some of the values of Judaism are what you, I, or the average person raised in western society would agree are good, but what I am troubled by is that many Jews want to make decisions for other people simply because they believe these choices for society are morally and functionally correct. There is this "we simply know what's best for you" mentality among the Jewish people that I find troubling. As a culture, we have a difficult time just letting things be, and always feel the need to improve the world, not letting things take their natural and often better course.
I would define Mitzvah in that context as this:
Attempting to change the world in radical ways so that things are better (often with disastrous and/ or unintended consequences). Consequence of action is a lesson the Jewish people will never learn.
